Anyone can save a life with basic first aid skills.
The “Wings of Victory” charity / “Aybolit: On the Way to Recovery” project has launched a series of six emergency first responder training sessions at Kyiv Havros Medical College.
On Monday, April 28, 2025, the first group of 16 medical students participated in the training conducted by Red Cross instructor Alla Zakrevska.
“My long-held dream finally came true today – offering free emergency care courses for medical college students through the Kyiv City Red Cross,” says Viktoria Kramarenko, head of the foundation and the project.
The lifesaving skills students learn in this basic course are crucial for emergency response.
“Medical students form the backbone of our medical community,” Viktoria Kramarenko explains. “Their education creates a strong foundation of knowledge that gets reinforced through hospital training. Emergency care basics are the critical first layer they’ll build upon.”
Participants gained hands-on experience with:
- First aid fundamentals
- CPR techniques
- Emergency response for: dizziness, seizures, chest pain, stroke, abdominal pain, poisoning, snakebites, heatstroke, and hypothermia
Everyone earned an internationally recognized certificate valid in 192 countries.

“We strongly recommend adding TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) training next—these emergency skills provide ideal preparation for tactical medicine,” Viktoria Kramarenko says. “Organizing such trainings is especially crucial during wartime, which continues to impact civilians in cities across Ukraine.”
