“Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty.”
— Winston Churchill

Our “Aybolit: On the Way to Recovery” project continues its work. We keep fighting, working, and finding ways to maintain momentum.

The project offers free services to veterans across nine key areas:

  • Medical transportation
  • Legal assistance
  • Psychological support
  • Aquatic rehabilitation
  • Equine-assisted therapy (hippotherapy)
  • Kinesiotherapy & sports equipment training
  • Entrepreneurship courses
  • Emergency response training
  • Veteran retreats

In April, there was a significant development: our “Wings of Victory” charity / “Aybolit: On the Way to Recovery” project began working within the Capable and Resistant Program administered by the East Europe Foundation with the financial support of Switzerland. This program supported Most of April’s activities under Aybolit.

As of April 30, 2025—marking our third year of uninterrupted operations—our vehicles have traveled 123,958 km.

During this period, we’ve assisted 4,948 individuals with severe injuries and disabilities.

Demand remains consistently high for individual medical transport services for veterans with mobility challenges, who often urgently need medical transportation. We never turn down requests—EVERY VETERAN MATTERS!

In April alone, we completed 64 medical transports.

Our trusted partners:

  • “Lisova Polyana” Mental Health & Veteran Rehabilitation Center (MoH Ukraine)
  • AVANTI Trade – Free Limb Prosthetics Center

Equine therapy continues growing in popularity. Every Sunday, our specialized vehicles transport participants from “Lisova Polyana” to Klondike Stables in Zabirya village (Kyiv Oblast) for therapeutic horse interaction. April saw 50 veterans benefit from this program.

At Kyiv Havros Medical College, we launched a 4-part emergency first aid training series through Aybolit. Two student groups participated in April sessions led by Red Cross-certified instructor Alla Zakrevska. The first group’s 16 students earned internationally recognized certifications valid in 192 countries. We’re encouraged by students requesting follow-up training to reinforce their skills.

Our “Start Your Own Business” program continues, featuring six 2-day seminars.

The swimming team also continues to practice at the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine (NUPESU), with 50 veterans using free aquatic services in April. Special thanks to NUPESU leadership:

  • Acting Rector Oleksandr Pyzhov
  • “Olympic Style” Sports Complex Director Ruslan Sanzharov
  • Training & Rehabilitation Center Director Viktor Korzh
  • Aybolit Coach Vadym Dombrovsky
  • Medical Supervisor Dr. Roman Vakulenko

We also appreciate the installation of exercise equipment available for veteran rehabilitation. Monthly usage averages 30-40 participants.

April featured a retreat for 14 members of “Vyshyvanka for a Tank,” an IDP women’s group from Kyiv’s Kotsyubynske suburb. For the third year, they’ve been supplying frontline troops with high-quality camouflage nets, “kikimoras” (camouflage suits), protective gear, and Starlink mats.

Heartfelt gratitude to our key sponsors for their steadfast support and many-year collaboration:

  • Sonya Atlantova
  • Olaf Clemensen
  • St. Martin de Porres Foundation
  • RGOW Projekte, Switzerland
  • Partnerschaftsaktion Ost im Bistum Magdeburg, Germany
  • Charitable Foundation for the Promotion of Medical Development

Eternal thanks to Ukraine’s defenders for their bravery and sacrifice.

Stand strong!
