Anyone can save a life with basic first aid skills.
The Wings of Victory charity—through its “Aybolit: On the Way to Recovery” project—has completed a series of emergency first responder training sessions designed to enhance relevant knowledge and skills for students at Kyiv Havros Medical College.

The curriculum followed the basic emergency care program developed by the Kyiv City Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, covering:
- First aid fundamentals
- CPR techniques
- Emergency response protocols for: dizziness, seizures, chest pain, stroke, abdominal pain, poisoning, snakebites, heatstroke, and hypothermia.
A total of 67 students received globally recognized certification valid in 192 countries. Sessions were strategically scheduled before annual exams to help students reinforce academic knowledge while acquiring practical emergency response skills.

For two years, the Wings of Victory Charitable Foundation has enabled volunteers, students, and veteran care coordinators at Kyiv medical institutions to gain first aid expertise with internationally recognized certification. This initiative operates in collaboration with Tetiana Goyenko, Head of the URCS Kyiv City Organization, and instructor Alla Zakrevska.
“We advocate for mandatory emergency first aid training across all medical colleges,” says Aybolit project leader Viktoria Kramarenko. “This becomes particularly critical during wartime, when attacks extend beyond battlefields to civilian cities. So, we recommend supplementing this training with Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) courses. Existing emergency care training creates an optimal foundation for mastering battlefield medical skills through TCCC.”
We take pride in our youth recognizing the value of advanced training. Participants expressed gratitude for the knowledge gained, with many requesting autumn refresher courses and inquiring about professional development opportunities.
We extend our gratitude to College Director Anna Chervona and Academic Supervisor Yulia Honcharenko for their organizational support in conducting these trainings.
‼ This initiative is realized by the Wings of Victory charity within the Capable and Resistant Program implemented by the East Europe Foundation with the financial support of Switzerland.
Stand Strong!
